Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kahuku Sugar Mill families living in older plantation homes have been warned they could face eviction.  The landowner Continental Pacific plans to convert the homes to condos.  The Kahuku Village Association is working to get financing to buy the land outright and convert the homes to fee simple.  It's complicated, though, because many of the homes are in a flood plain and need to be moved.

Home sales - 147 homes last month on the big island, 49 condos - on Kauai, 55 homes and condos sold - sales down from last year - Kona condo prices rebounded but otherwise prices were down 5% to 10%.

The army awards a 35 million dollar construction contract to a mainland firm - it's a design-build for single enlisted personnel housing at Schofield - and it goes to Absher Construction of Puyallup, Washington - and the Air Force is looking for a contractor to repair folded fiberglass mats at Hickam - applicant must disclose ownership or control by the government of a terrorist country.

Hawaiian airlines launches Seoul flights next week - and this morning it got some good news for the future - South Korea wins the 2018 Winter Olympics.
