Coming Up on Hawaii News Now Tuesday

Aloha from Hawaii News Now on this Aloha Tuesday. I hope your Independence Day celebrations went well. Here's what we're working right now for Hawaii News Now at 5 & 5:30 on KGMB & KHNL.

CASEY ANTHONY: ACQUITTED OF CAPITAL MURDER

I'm sure you've heard by now, but if you haven't -- after a 6 week trial in Florida state court, Casey Anthony has been found "not guilty" of the most serious charges against her in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Starting at 5 tonight, we'll have the latest details on the case, and the very strong reaction to the verdict. So far, we've had over 100 responses to the Hawaii News Now Facebook page.

LIVE INTERVIEW WITH DEFENSE ATTORNEY MICHAEL GREEN

Also, Honolulu defense attorney Michael Green joins us tonight at 5:30 on KHNL to share his thoughts on the Casey Anthony verdict.

BOARD OF EDUCATION BUDGET

Here at home, Lisa Kubota reports on budgetary matters with the Board of Education. Lisa says a key BOE committee has approved a fee increase proposal that could affect parents pocketbooks.

WHOA, BIG BOA CAPTURED!

That's right -- "B-O-A" -- as in Boa Constrictor! The 9-foot long snake was captured by pig hunters in Central Oahu, yesterday. As you know, snakes have no natural predators in Hawaii. Because of that, they pose a serious threat to our isolated, island environment. We'll show you the snake tonight on Hawaii News Now at 5.

Guy Hagi has the latest on a summer swell and when we can expect that to arrive for south facing shores. And Kelly Mumme is keeping a watchful eye on your afternoon pau hana commute.

I hope you'll join Stephanie Lum and me for these stories and more on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 on KGMB & KHNL.

Aloha,

Shawn
