Tifway bermudagrass

Tifway Bermudagrass

Tifway 419 (Cynodon dactylon x C. transvaalensis germplasma) is characterized as having a dark green color with fine textured leaves. Tifway hybrid bermudagrass is dense with a medium to low growth habit and is propagated  vegetatively.  Seeds are not available for this hybrid.  This variety is a vigorous grower and thus establishes quickly at planting.

Southern Turf Hawaii has supplied numerous golf courses, sport fields, and government projects with Tifway 419 bermudagrass.  While new improved varieties, like Celebration bermudagrass, are available now, Tifway 419 remains a popular mainstay in drought tolerant conditions.

Tifway 419 bermudagrass requires fertilizing with a slow release turf fertilizer, on a bi-monthly basis, to maintain health and color.
Dwarf St. Augustine grass, Stenotaphrum secundatum, is one of the most shade tolerant warm season grasses, thriving beneath partial shade of large trees, shrubs and structures. Southern Turf Hawaii grows in full sun and Dwarf St. Augustine performs well in a wide variety of light conditions.  It is well adapted to Hawaii's tropical climate and does well in wet areas.
