Feds launch new loan program for homeowners

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There's new help for struggling homeowners.

The federal government has launched the Emergency Homeowners Loan Program.

Up to $50,000 is available for each homeowner in loans that do not have to be paid back.

However, it is only good if the homeowner stays in their house for another five years and does not fall behind on their mortgage again.

Applications will be accepted through July 12.
