HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Coast Guard crew rescued four boaters from Oregon just 12 miles south of Oahu.
According to officials, the boaters got stranded when their 30-foot sailboat struck debris and damaged their rudder.
The boaters were about 665 miles southwest of San Diego at the time.
A Hong Kong based cargo ship answered the distress call and brought them to the transfer points near the islands.
The sailors and their pet cat then boarded the Coast Guard ship.
The group is reported to be safe, but they had to abandon their sailboat.
