MILILANI (HawaiiNewsNow)- Two men were sent to the hospital following an overnight shooting in Mililani.
According to Honolulu police, the incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. when the suspect opened fire on the two men at Kipapa Park on Kuahelani Avenue.
"They were at a bar down the road and there was an argument," HPD Detective Ronald Lopes said. "The argument spilled over here, in which, the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the two victims."
Police now have the suspect in custody. Richard Silva, 43, turned himself in to police at around 4 a.m. at the Wahiawa Police Station.
According to officials, a 41-year-old man was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, along with a 39-year-old man who was listed in stable condition.
Police say both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
According to paramedics, the 39-year-old victim was shot in the back.
The 41-year-old victim suffered a gunshot to his torso.
Police were able to track down Silva's vehicle after witnesses took down his license plate number.
Silva, who has several prior arrests, was brought to the station by a family member who encouraged him to turn himself in to police.
Silva was later transferred to HPD's main cell block where he now faces attempted murder and firearms charges.
Police want to remind the public that you put your life at risk when you can't walk away from a fight.
"Anytime there's possible alcohol involved and tempers flare, this kind of stuff can happen," Lopes said. "You just have to be careful."
