Sunrise Snapshot: Fireworks, Let it Rip on Lockouts, What Were They Thinking & More

Happy Aloha Friday. Here's a quick look at what Sunrise is working on this morning.

FIREWORKS FOR THE FOURTH

Malika will give us a live look at the fireworks extravaganza planned for the 4th at Magic Island, plus tips on fireworks safety too.

HAPPENING TODAY:

NO FURLOUGHS, BUT PAY CUTS ON THIS FRIDAY FOR TEACHERS

A 5 percent pay cut kicks in this morning for thousands of Hawaii public school teachers. Educators blame their union.

NBA LOCKOUT STARTS, NFL SEASON IN JEOPARDY

The NBA Lockout begins and it's not looking good for the NFL season either. We'll let it rip on this hot topic at 6:40 and let us know what you think too. Sound off on our Hawaii News Now facebook page.

ROYAL WATCH

Royal watchers will follow William & Katherine's every move in Canada, including what the fashionable Duchess is wearing on day 2 of their North American visit. We'll have live coverage of their trip, plus another royal wedding happening in Monaco. Longtime bachelor Prince Albert is finally tying the knot today.

SUNRISE SEGMENTS:

NICK LACHEY AT 6:10

Singer/actor Nick Lachey will have a preview of the big 4th of July bash in New York City.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Sunrise unveils our best and worst of the week at 7:10.

MORTON'S STEAKHOUSE AT 7:40

Just in time for Independence Day, Morton's Steakhouse will fire up the grill on the sidewalk right outside our studio. (Just close enough to sample. Yum!)

LOCAL JUSTICE AT 8:10

Move over Judge Judy. K5 has a new show called "Local Justice" that tries to settle disputes between neighbors. We'll hear from two people who went to court to resolve their feud.

SALUTE TO VALOR BAND AT 8:20

And, get in the patriotic spirit when the Salute to Valor Band performs live from Studio B.

See you on Sunrise!

Aloha,
