HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – University of Hawaii football coaches Rich Miano and Inoke Funaki will lead six former Warriors to Japan to participate in the New Era Bowl, Sunday, July 10 in Osaka, Japan.
The game has been in existence since 1990, when it was named the "Hesei Bowl" and will feature Japan collegiate all-stars playing with former American collegiate players. The Japanese all-stars install the visiting American college's base offense and defense.
The former Warriors include Tuika Tufaga, Spencer smith, Nate Ilaoa, Bronson Tiwanak and Tala Esera. They will headline the Hawaii team that will face a team made up of former UNLV players.
Hawaii has been invited to this game two previous times in 2004 and 2005.
This year's game will be played at the Kyocera Osaka Dome in Osaka Japan.
