HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – University of Hawaii second baseman Kolten Wong was named to the 2011 ESPN.com College Baseball All-America Team.
Wong was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
He had a fantastic season, starting 59 games this season, recording 48 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples, 53 RBI, and led the Rainbows with seven homeruns.
He also led the conference with 23 stolen bases and ranks third in on-base percentage (.492) and fourth in slugging percentage (.560), and was named All-WAC for the third time.
Wong is currently playing in Iowa for the Quad City River Bandits, the Cardinal's Class-A Affiliate. In three games, he has two hits, one run, and two RBI.
Wong helped guide the Rainbows (34-25) to a WAC co-regular season championship, their first since 1992.
They earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, but fell in the title game to Fresno State.
