KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai has started a new photovoltaic project.
The Kaiakea Fire Station will be the third facility in the country to have a solar-powered system.
"We are very excited about the start of another county PV project," Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. said. "Incorporating renewable energy into as many county facilities as possible is one of our top priorities and is on our list of Holo Holo 2020 projects."
The project is slated to be done at the end of August.
It is expected to save the county $18,000 per year.
