2011 Kalakaua Cup Regatta

KANEOHE, Oahu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Did you know in the final decades of the Hawaiian Kingdom, King Kalakaua was a serious patron of recreational boating? He even started "The Hawaiian Rowing and Yachting Association." The Kalakaua Cup was started in 1889 and it has an interesting past. In fact, King Kalakaua himself won the very first race aboard his yacht "healani." Malika was live at the Kaneohe Yacht Club to tell us more about this historic race.

See video to the right for the segments that aired on Sunrise.
