Coast Guard rescues snorkeler on Maui

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Coast Guard Station Maui rescue crew assisted in evacuating a dive boat crewmember found unresponsive while snorkeling near Molokini Crater on Tuesday.

The incident happened at 11 a.m. when the captain of the Island Princess dive boat alerted Sector Honolulu watchstanders.

The Coast Guard Station Maui launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium to assist in the retrieval.

The 26-year-old snorkeler was found approximately 50 feet below water.

Maui Emergency Medical crews treated the snorkeler at the Maalaea Small Boart Harbor.

He was then transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
