HAWAII KAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Time's running out for the owner of a 45 foot sailboat to get it "unstuck" from a reef just outside Maunalua Bay in Hawaii Kai.
Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources posted a notice this morning that the owner of the 'Queen Esther' has until Wednesday evening to free the boat. The owner has been working with a salvage expert and has moved the vessel a little bit closer to the channel during high tide Tuesday. They are confident that they can remove it by Wednesday at the high tide (between 2-5 p.m.) which is a little over 2'.
The 'Queen Esther' ran aground Saturday night in Maunalua Bay as it was heading into the Hawaii Kai marina.
No one was injured when the boat ran aground. The owner hopes Wednesday's
