HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - According to a study by the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council, Hawaii is one of the poorest states in the country.
In its "Rich States, Poor States" report, Hawaii came in at No. 46. That's down from 38 last year, and 41 in 2008 and 2009.
The ALEC says Hawaii has one of the highest state income taxes, pricey social programs and big budget deficits.
