Delta 747 stranded on Midway Atoll takes off

MIDWAY ATOLL (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Delta 747 aircraft that made an emergency landing on Midway Atoll has departed.

According to a Midway Atoll spokesperson, the plane left the island Monday at 4:15 a.m. (HST).

On Thursday, the flight from Honolulu to Osaka, Japan was forced to make an emergency landing after a crack in the windshield was discovered.

Since then, repairs were made to the windshield, flap and starter.

No birds were hit during the takeoff.
