Good afternoon from Hawaii News Now!
Steph and I are about to hop on the set to tape our afternoon teases, but I wanted to share with you some of the stories we're working on for this Thursday on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 on KGMB & KHNL.
HONU STATUS MAY BE UPGRADED
Tonight at 5, Brooks Baehr, shares with us the awesome progress being made by threatened green sea turtles. So much so, they may be taken off the threatened species list. Brooks will have more on KGMB & KHNL at 5 o'clock.
Embattled U.S. Congressman, Anthony Weiner gave up today, surrendering to the growing and already immense pressure for him to quit. And at his news conference today when he announced his resignation, Weiner was continually heckled and chided by some members of the audience. We'll have the hi-lights -- or low-lights, if you will -- tonight at 5 on KGMB & KHNL.
CITY EXPERIMENT ANGERS ELDERLY; MAY BACKFIRE
The City & County of Honolulu is experimenting with a "slanted" bus stop bench to prevent the homeless from sleeping on benches. But the benches, which some folks find hard to sit on, have angered elderly bus riders who use the bus stops. Tonight at 5 o'clock, Tim Sakahara will take a closer look.
There's a lot more to coming up tonight, including Guy Hagi's attempts to fly a kite. Yup, you heard me right: Guy will be aiming for "lift off" and try to take the breezy weather we've been having. We'll have that, plus Kelly Mumme's "pau hana" traffic reports.
And, oh, even though I'm a "boy," I'm all in for "Girl's Hat Day" on Hawaii News Now at 5:30 on KHNL. One disclaimer: I didn't pick the hat. That was done by Stephanie and Nicole, our producer. Lol. It barely fits! Anyways, that's tonight at 5:30 on KHNL.
I hope you'll join Stephanie Lum and me for these stories and more on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 on KGMB & KHNL.
See you then!
