Crews trying to locate possible leaks along Ala Moana Boulevard

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) –Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews will be working to investigate possible leaks in the water distribution system along Ala Moana Boulevard between Piikoi Street and Atkinson Drive on Thursday, June 16, and Friday, June 17, 2011.

The leak detection work will involve roving single-lane closures in the westbound direction from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on both days. BWS crews will be using specialized equipment to collect data and identify potential leaks in the water mains. If a leak is detected, a planned repair job will be scheduled to proactively fix the leak to minimize the occurrence of an emergency water main break. This work is part of the BWS's ongoing water system leak detection program.

Drivers are advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow for extra travel time.  Arrow boards will be in place to notify motorists of the lane closures.
