HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police on Wednesday took another teenaged boy into custody in connection with a shooting at Highlands Intermediate last month. He's the third kid to be arrested in the case.

Police say a 14-year-old Pearl City High School student was booked on suspicion of first-degree theft and a firearms offense at HPD headquarters at around noon. Investigators believe he stole a 45-caliber, semi-automatic pistol from his father and sold it to a 16-year-old boy, who then turned around and sold it to the 14-year-old boy who's accused of firing it at Highlands Intermediate May 23rd.

One child was hit with bullet fragments after the round struck a wall. Another complained of discomfort to his ears.

Police believe the gun was fired accidentally while the boy who had it last was showing it to his friends.
