Firefighters put out Ewa Beach townhouse blaze

EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Fire Department crews responded to a fire at an Ewa Beach townhouse Thursday morning.

The fire broke at around 9:45 a.m. at the Ewa by Gentry Sun Rise complex located at 91-299 Hanapouli Circle.

The building was evacuated.

Firefighters had the flames under control just before 10 a.m. The fire was extinguished at 11 a.m.

One person received treatment and was transported to a hospital after he attempted to save his cat from the burning unit.

According to officials, one unit was destroyed in the fire.

American Red Cross volunteers are assisting affected residents and making sure their immediate needs are met.
