5 honored in YWCA Leader Luncheon

The YWCA luncheon was held on Tuesday in Waikiki. The YWCA luncheon was held on Tuesday in Waikiki.

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Five women were honored at the annual YWCA Leader Luncheon for their outstanding work in the community in Waikiki on Tuesday.

The following women were honored:

  • Colleen Minami, the founder of Aloha Medical Mission, the only free dental clinic in the state.
  • Former first lady of Hawaii Vicky Cayetano.
  • Hawaii State Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland.
  • Former principal of Farrington High School Catherine Payne.
  • Linda Rosario, the only minority McDonald's franchise owner in Hawaii Linda Rosario.

"Never imagined in my life that I would be this successful today," said Rosario. "It's very humbling. All the ladies that are so deserving of this award, I'm very humbled, I feel great."

"I think this is a wonderful way to celebrate what ladies do for the community," Sen. Chun Oakland.

Since the leader luncheon began in 1977, every year the YWCA has shined the spotlight on female leaders who serve as an inspiration to women and girls .
