Two women escape from overnight house fire in Mililani

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)- A pregnant woman and her sister escaped a house fire overnight in Mililani.

According to officials, they were awoken by the smell of smoke about 11:15 p.m. on Apele Street.

When fire crews arrived six minutes later, the backside of the three-bedroom home was engulfed in flames.

Twenty Honolulu firefighters got the blaze under control by 11:30 p.m. and completely out by 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.

According to officials, the home is a complete loss, with damages estimated at $350,000.

The Red Cross is helping the two victims.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
