Big Island: Search for missing kayaker comes to an end

KAPOHO, Big Island (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii County Fire Department crews have ended their search for a missing kayaker Monday afternoon.

The incident was reported just before 4 p.m. near the Champagne Ponds.

According to officials, two people were involved in an accident.

A nearby resident says an HFD rescue helicopter was spotted flying around in the area.

Big Island police are still at the scene.
