HONOLULU-(HawaiiNewsNow)-Hawaii Handweavers' Hui presents its 28th biennial exhibition, "Sublime, Sensible, Serendipitous," June 3 through 19, 2011, at the Academy Art Center at Linekona. The juried exhibition includes traditional and contemporary handweaving from the practical to the conceptual. Juror will be Emily Dubois, an internationally known textile artist from Pahoa, Hawaii. All work in the show will be of original design and created independently by the artists. Some part of each piece must be handwoven by the artist. Works will include wearable art as well as textiles for use in the home and as fine art pieces.
The opening reception for "Sublime, Sensible, Serendipitous" will be held Thursday, June 2, from 5:30 to 7:30, with a juror walk-through at 5 p.m
A lecture by Dubois will be held Wednesday, June 1, 6:30 p.m., in the University of Hawaii Art Department, Room 101.
