HARTFORD (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hartford Courant newspaper is reporting that Colt Brennan, a Heisman Trophy candidate while playing quarterback from the University of Hawaii, will try to resurrect his pro career, signing a contract with the UFL's Hartford Colonials.

Brennan, a two-time All-American who finished third in the 2007 Heisman Trophy voting, is the holder of a number of NCAA passing records. In 2006 he set NCAA marks with 58 touchdown passes, a 72.6 completion percentage and a 186.0 passer efficiency rating. He was awarded the Sammy Baugh Trophy for that season, given annually to the top passer in the country.

Brennan is quoted as saying, "The UFL over the last two years has maintained a respect level and has done a lot of things to help a lot of players get back to the NFL. That's my ultimate goal"

The Courant also quotes Brennan as saying, "I'm so excited and grateful to have a chance to play football this fall. My only focus right now is playing for the Hartford Colonials."
