'World War II in the Pacific' program accepting applications

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii teachers are getting an exciting opportunity to hear from World War II experts next month.

The World War II in the Pacific program at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center will explore oral histories, local war records and the role of Native Hawaiians in the war.

The five-day program begins July 11 and is free for all state, public, private and charter school teachers.

Applications are due June 14.

    An eviction gone wrong on the Big Island ended with after a lengthy standoff and the arrest of two people Monday evening.  According to police, the landlord of a home in the Hawi area of North Kohala attempted to evict a couple from the home around 9:45 a.m. During the eviction, the couple, identified as 27-year-old Lucas Wolf and 28-year-old Britney Wolf, showed resistance and acted aggressively, police said.  Britney then allegedly fired a single shot and...
