Sailboat stuck on Ala Wai reef

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The owners of a 30 foot sail boat, wedged on a reef off Oahu's South Shore are trying to figure out how to free their vessel. Fire officials say the boat ran aground about 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Three people were rescued, and unharmed. We're told the vessel was headed into the Ala Wai from the Ko'Olina Yacht Harbor, which means they made it 18 miles, only to get stuck in the final few hundred yards.

The next high tide is Sunday afternoon about 3:00 p.m., but there's also a new south swell that could complicate the salvage effort.
