HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man who stole money from a Honolulu law firm to support a lavish lifestyle received a 10-year prison sentence Wednesday.

Last December, Nigel Salmingo pleaded guilty to 37 felony counts, including theft, forgery and money laundering. Prosecutors say he stole nearly $300,000 from the law firm of Winer, Meheula and Devens when he worked there as an office manager.

The company reportedly discovered irregularities in its checking and credit card accounts while Salmingo was on vacation.

In addition to the 10-year prison term, Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario ordered the 32-year-old to pay more than $297,000 in restitution.
