HPD, Farmers Insurance Hawaii urge public to drive with aloha

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department is reminding the public to slow down ahead of the busy holiday weekend.

HPD and Farmers Insurance Hawaii teamed up on Tuesday at the intersection of Beretania and Punchbowl streets.

They are reminding drivers to obey speed limits, avoid driving distractions to and watch out for pedestrians, especially in light of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

"Pedestrians can also help by just being aware of the traffic around them and being very careful when they're crossing the streets," Farmers Insurance Hawaii president Michele Saito said.

That particular intersection saw five major accidents within the past nine months, with several people injured.
