Sacred Hearts Academy breaks ground for new student center

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Sacred Hearts Academy broke ground for a new facility on Tuesday.

The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation presented a two-million-dollar check to the school to help build its new student center.

The school held a groundbreaking Tuesday morning for the six-million-dollar facility, which replaces the current 53-year-old cafeteria.

It will accommodate the school's 1,000 students and honor the Academy's commitment to campus-wide sustainable initiatives.

The old building will be demolished on Wednesday.

The new student center is slated to be done by August.
