KOLOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police have identified the suspect in Sunday night's shooting in Koloa.

Dominador Padua, 47, was arrested Sunday night after a shooting incident that occurred at his home on Olona Street at approximately 8:19 p.m.

Padua reportedly shot his wife, 42, in the leg then barricaded himself in his home. The victim managed to escape the residents through a bedroom window. Medics transported her to Wilcox Hospital. Her current condition is not known.

Police evacuated nearby residences.

The couple's two children, ages 17 and 18, voluntarily remained in the home with their father until police were able to negotiate their release at about 9:50 p.m.  The children were initially taken into police custody then temporarily transferred to a family member. Neither child reported injuries.

Padua was successfully convinced to surrender without incident at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver from the residence.

Padua remains in police cellblock in lieu of $516,000 bail. His court date is pending.
