Neighbor reacts to Palolo rock fall

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - State Civil Defense crews are expected to inspect a Palolo hillside on Monday after a rock slide Friday night. That's when three large boulders came tumbling down the mountainside into a home. They smashed through a shed, bedroom, and bathroom, narrowly missing a boy.

Five families were asked to evacuate their homes as a precaution. One neighbor we spoke with, Cody Jarrett, says he's worried about the potential danger: "When you look up you kind of wonder, oh I wonder if something could happen, but you kind of put it in the back of your mind. This is the second incident on this block of boulders coming down so it's a little concerning."

A Civil Defense spokesperson tells us the property along the hillside, where the rocks fell, is privately owned.
