Two die in light aircraft crash off Kauai's North Shore

KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two people died when an light sport aircraft crashed off the North Shore of Kauai at about 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.  

The aircraft belongs to Kauai Aero Sport and went down in the water about 100 yards offshore near Honopu beach.

The bodies of two men were recovered at about 2:10 p.m. but not identified. Wreckage has also been pulled from the water.

Kauai Aero Sports operates out of the Port Allen Airport on the south shore of Kauai in Hanapepe.

Steve Sprague is the owner/pilot for the company.

An light sport aircraft crash on Kauai in February killed pilot Jim Gaither, 55, who owned Big Sky Kauai, and passenger Kim Buergel, 49.
