WAIHEE, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui woman passed away Saturday morning after crashing her truck in Waihee.
Police say Tiare Franco was driving north on Kahekili Highway, around 1:08 a.m., when she attempted to curve left with the road. Instead, she veered off the roadway, about a mile and a half north of Oki Place, and down a steep embankment. The 22 year old Haiku woman was ejected from her Dodge truck, and died on the scene. Another person was allegedly in the truck, but fled before police arrived.
Maui police say Franco's body was found 75 feet down a cliff, near Waihee Elementary School. It's unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol were involved.
