HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Flash Flood Warning has been extended yet again for Kauai until 9:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu says steady showers and runoff from earlier rainfall continue to cause flooding on Kauai. Radar shows more heavy rain moving in from the south. Flooding remains possible for the entire island but especially for Hanalei.

The Hanalei River gauge was still reporting a very high water level and water could continue to rise; the Hanalei River Bridge remained closed.

Other locations in the warning include, but are not limited to:

  • Kapaa
  • Haena
  • Wainiha
  • Na Pali State Park
  • Moloaa
  • Kalalau Valley
  • Wailua
  • Princeville
  • Kokee State Park
  • Kilauea
  • Hanalei
  • Anahola

A Flash Flood Warning means that flash flooding is imminent or already occurring. Persons in those areas should move to higher ground immediately.

The warning may be extended past 9:30 a.m. if heavy rain and flooding persist.
