Hawaii students battle in the Botball

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Students battled for the winning spot in the Hawaii Botball Regional Robotics. The tournament held its 7th Annual tournament on Saturday, May 7th.

37 teams, comprised of middle and high school students, competed in the tournament.

Hanalani School finished as the overall tournament champion, with Maui Waena Middle School, Wahiawa Middle School, Moanalua High School and Nanakuli High School earning spots as runners up.

The students participating in the tournament design, build, program and document robots to solve challenges in a tournament style atmosphere.

Instead of being managed by remote control, the robots in the tournament are programmed with a programming language called "C," which allows the robot to be controlled without a remote.

Botball is one of the six programs supported by the Hawaii Robotics Organizing Committee.
