Filipino Fiesta draws hundreds, breaks early for Pacquiao fight

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Pinoy Pride was on display in Waikiki Saturday, as hundreds turned out for the 19th annual Filipino Fiesta at Kapiolani Park.

The event featured entertainment, cultural displays, and lots of Filipino food.

The Filipino Community Center is one of the main organizers of the Fiesta, which is the largest Filipino cultural gathering in the islands.

"It's always good to showcase our talents, for those who are not able to afford to go to the Philippines, we're bringing the Philippine culture here in Hawaii. That's really what's special for today," said Angel Lewis, one of the emcees and organizers.

There was one big difference in this year's event. It was scheduled to end at 4 p.m., about one or two hours earlier than usual, so that people could watch the boxing match featuring Manny Pacquiao, who has a huge following among Filipinos worldwide.
