WAIKANE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Friends of a driver killed in a single-vehicle crash in Windward Oahu Saturday night left flowers and bottles of beer at a roadside memorial Sunday.

Friends identified him as Micah Mench, 27, of Kaneohe.

"Everybody liked him," Kawika Sebay, Mench's friend, said. "It's just super sad. I can't believe he's gone. I always knew he would go on and do great things like everybody in their family."

Investigators say Mench's 1997 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Kamehameha Highway at a high rate of speed when he lost control near Johnson Road and slammed into a tree.

His passenger, tentatively identified as a 22-year-old female, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
