HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Just in time for royal wedding revelers, Kua Aina, a long-time burger restaurant in Hawaii, opened a 52-seat restaurant on famous Carnaby Street in London. It is a joint venture with Diverso Corporation Ltd.

"We are really excited about taking our North Shore concept to Europe. Kua Aina began with a simple idea that we still apply today: Quality food, cooked to order, served informally at a fair price," founder and Kua Aina president Terry Thompson said.

Kua Aina expanded beyond its North Shore roots in Haleiwa in 1997 with a location at Ward Avenue in Honolulu. The same year, Thompson formed a license-ship agreement with Four Seeds Co., one of Japan¹s largest food franchisors, to expand in Japan.

There are currently 17 locations in Japan, 15 in the Tokyo area and two in Osaka.
