Aloha! Here are some of the stories we're working on for Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30 on this Wednesday.
WAIKELE BLAST VICTIMS, CAUSE OF DEATH
The Honolulu Medical Examiner has ruled that three of the victims of the Waikele fireworks blast may not have died from the blast, itself. The M.E. says three of the 5 victims likely died from carbon-monoxide poisoning. Jim Mendoza will sort it all out for us tonight at 5.
SOARING GASOLINE PRICES; CHANGING DRIVING HABITS
How are you dealing with steadily rising gas prices? Tonight at 5, we'll show how the gasoline "creep up" here in Hawaii is changing how folks are getting around. Minna Sugimoto will have that story at 5 o'clock.
Yesterday morning, a Whitmore Village woman was killed in a crosswalk in Kalihi, just days before her birthday. Tonight at 5, we speak with her husband and mother and also find out what the State of Hawaii is doing to try and keep pedestrians safe.
HAWAII FOODBANK FOODDRIVE
Food staples are flying off the shelves at the Hawaii Foodbank, being used to help those less fortunate. How can you help? Tonight at 5:30, we'll tour the Mapunapuna storage facility to see just how needed items are disappearing and also tell you how you can lend a hand this coming weekend to help replenish supplies.
I hope you'll join Stephanie Lum and me for these stories and more on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30. See you then!
