KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The drivers of the two vehicles involved in a head-on collision on Koloa Road early April 9 were both arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.
Kevin Anderson, 46, of Koloa, was driving east in a white Dodge pickup on Koloa Road at about 2:01 a.m. when he struck an oncoming green dodge station wagon driven by Ellen Yadao, 35, of Kalaheo.
Yadao and Anderson sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by medics. Neither driver had passengers.
Police detected alcohol on both drivers, prompting officers to have their blood alcohol levels tested. Both drivers were subsequently arrested for DUI and taken to the police cellblock.
A portion of Koloa Road was closed for about an hour while police conducted their investigation.
