HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The company that was storing the fireworks in Friday's Waikele explosion is Donaldson Enterprises (DEI).
DEI is a Hawaii-based company that specializes in finding and clearing unexploded ordnance.
The company has an office on Moaniani Street in Waipio no more than two or three miles from where the explosion happened.
On Friday afternoon, the doors were locked. The woman who answered our call said she didn't have any information about the accident or the people involved.
DEI's website indicates the company also has an office on the Big Island. The site is filled with information about DEI's work, mostly removing unexploded bombs in Hawaii, Japan, Guam, Alaska and Palau.
The company claims to have completed more than 500 explosives related projects without a single accident or injury.
There's no mention on the website of the facility involved in Friday's explosion and there's no mention of the company's work storing fireworks.
Whatever was stored in the unit was powerful enough to torch the pickup parked outside and singe plants across the street.
