HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Just a day after the last elected Board of Education meeting, round two of hearings to confirm an appointed school board continued Friday.
The remaining four members -- Charlene Cuaresma, Cheryl Lupenui, Nancy Budd and Keith Amemiya -- all answered a wide range of questions posed by the Senate Education Committee.
Friends and families of each of the candidates came out in force at the State Capitol to show their support.
With varying backgrounds, each member is hoping to bring something different to the table.
"I look forward to the audit of policies the Board will be doing so that we can begin to identify what are the exceptional things that schools are doing now and how can we replicate that and how can we co-mentor you know, from school to school," Cuaresma said.
In the end, the committee did recommend their confirmations, which still needs to be approved by the full Senate.
