Flood advisory in effect for Maui County

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood advisory for Maui County until 1 p.m. Friday.

Radar showed persistent to heavy rain on the windward and southeast slopes of Haleakala.

According to the NWS, other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to Nahiku, Hana, Oheo Gulch, Kipahulu, Keanae, Kaupo and Huelo.

The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
