Police investigate break-in at Pukalani Longs Drugs Store

PUKALANI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui police are searching for two suspects who broke into the Pukalani Longs Drug Store early Thursday morning.

Maui police responded to a burglary alarm at the store just before 5:15 a.m. According to officials, the suspects were spotted in a brown colored Ford F350 pickup truck in front of the store.

As the officer approached the pickup truck, the vehicle fled the shopping complex and traveled towards the Kamehameha School Maui Campus.

The officer then pursued the vehicle to the campus' athletic field at which time the two individuals exited the pickup truck and fled on foot through the school.

According to police, the suspects had attempted to break into the Bank of Hawaii ATM located inside the store. No money was taken, but the store and ATM sustained extensive damage.

Police later discovered that the pickup truck was an unreported stolen vehicle from the Haliimaile Pineapple Company.
