KANEOHE BAY (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Marine salvage crew rehearsed its role in the removal of the downed helicopter in Kaneohe Bay Tuesday afternoon.
As part of the salvage operation, Navy divers and Salvage Unit One will continue to extract smaller pieces of the CH-53D Sea Stallion.
The team plans to cut the remainder of the helicopter into two or three large sections that will be lifted back to Marine Corps Air Station later this week by a Marine chopper.
One Marine died and three others were injured in March 29 helicopter crash.
A private memorial service for Cpl. Jonathan Faircloth will be held Wednesday afternoon.
One of the injured Marines has been released from the Queen's Medical Center, but two are still recovering.
