HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - City crews have repaired a 12-inch water main break on Kamehameha Highway near Waikane Valley Road, but another water main has broken and the highway continues to have lanes closed and traffic contraflowed.
A 12-inch water main broke at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday and closed the highway on the Windward side of Oahu for about two hours, according to the Boards of Water Supply. That pipe is repaired and water resorted to area residents.
A 6-inch main at 49-480 Kamehameha Highway subsequently broke and water has been cut homes in that area while crews repair the break.
Traffic is backed up in both directions and police are directing traffic at the scene.
