HAWAII KAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Strong winds made battling a brush fire in East Oahu a challenge for fire crews Wednesday. Officials say a downed power line on Hawaii Kai Drive may have sparked the flames at about 10:15 AM.

Air One, the Honolulu Fire Department's helicopter, assisted in the fire fight near Mariner's Ridge by performing water drops. About 35 firefighters were involved in the operation.

Fire officials say fortunately, moisture in the brush helped to slow the spread of the flames. It took about three hours for crews to contain the 10-acre blaze.

There was no report of damage to homes.
