WAHIAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a Good Samaritan transported a man with multiple stab wounds to Wahiawa General Hospital Sunday night.

The victim, identified as a 65-year-old male, told officers that he was attacked by an acquaintance in the Whitmore Village area. Police say he was rushed to the Queen's Medical Center for emergency surgery and was last reported to be in critical condition.

Investigators say a 57-year-old man later called 911 and turned himself in in connection with the stabbing. Officers booked Dante A. Ilaban on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
