Kamehameha song contest starts Friday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Stomachs are fluttering in Kapalama tonight, as we count down to Friday's 91st annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest.

This year's event celebrates the music of Irmgard Farden Aluli, a prolific Hawaiian musician who's career spanned more than 70 years.

Tonight at 6 on KGMB we'll hear the junior class rehearsing for the live performance at the Blaisdell Center Arena.

We'll also learn the story of a hidden gem that's about to be re-discovered.

It's a song performed only once by the late 'Aunty Irmgard'.  This Friday, the senior men will bring that song back to life.

Join us for Hawaii News Now at 6 for the fascinating history of 'Momi A'o Ku'u Pu'uwai'.
