UH Manoa will host cranes of support

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – UH Manoa will hold a special gathering Thursday and Friday to show support for those affected by the disasters in Japan.

There will be tables set up at the Campus Center, Shidler College of Business and Moore Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 17th and Friday, March 18th. Students, faculty and staff are welcomed to help fold origami cranes, write messages of support and will be collecting monetary donations.

Volunteers from the International Student Association and International Business Organization and several other organizations will be responsible for the 1,000 origami paper cranes. It is believed that 1,000 folded origami cranes are signs of hope and luck. The paper cranes will be given to the Consul General of Japan in Honolulu.  Monetary donations collected will be given to the American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter to help those in Japan.
